Bespoke Ceremonies for Life’s Sacred Thresholds.

Hello, I’m Denise. Based in Leicestershire, I guide individuals and couples through life's major shifts with heart-led, custom-crafted ceremonies and rituals. Free from rigid scripts, every ceremony I lead is an intentional declaration of who you are, who you love, and the legacy you carry forward.

Bespoke Commitment Ceremonies

A completely bespoke celebration of your unique love story. Whether you want a ceremony that is Humanist, Pagan, beautifully secular, or one that weaves in a gentle Christian feel, I design rituals that fit your beliefs perfectly. I warmly welcome all couples, specialize in blending diverse religious or spiritual backgrounds, and gladly invite the inclusion of your children or pets.

Recommit to the journey you’ve shared. A vow renewal is a powerful way to celebrate the life and history you’ve built together. We can weave in traditional elements like unity candles and sand ceremonies, or design a brand-new ritual just for you.

For couples who wish to declare their lifelong devotion outside of traditional legal frameworks. This is a space of pure intention and deep meaning, completely tailored to your beliefs and crafted with the care your milestone deserves. I am fully prepared to travel for your day.

Honouring the Final Farewell

When we experience loss, a ceremony should be a sanctuary - a place to honour the raw truth of a life, a death, and the love that remains. I provide gentle, heart-led guidance to help you navigate these difficult thresholds, crafting bespoke farewells that bring dignity and peace to your loved one’s memory.

I am here to support you through all experiences of loss, including the most complex and heart-breaking paths - such as sudden or difficult deaths, deaths by suicide, and the profound grief of child loss.

Every story deserves to be held with reverence.

Your Name, Your Story

A name is one of the most powerful gifts we carry - it holds our identity, our history, and our future. Whether you are welcoming a new life into the world or claiming your own true space within it, I craft bespoke naming ceremonies to honour these beautiful new beginnings.

Every milestone of belonging deserves to be celebrated with joy and dignity.

FAQs

A Minister or religious leader conducts ceremonies rooted in a specific faith. A Registrar is a local government official who legally registers a birth, marriage, or death, usually using a standard legal script.

As an independent celebrant, I have no restrictions. I focus entirely on the story and the spirit of the occasion. I write your ceremony completely from scratch, which means we can include elements of spirituality, unique family traditions, or rituals (like drumming or handfasting) that wouldn't be allowed in a register office or a church.

What exactly is a Celebrant, and how are you different from a Registrar or a Minister?

Where do you travel for ceremonies?

2

I am based in Hinckley and primarily cover Leicestershire and Warwickshire. However, I am always happy to travel further afield if a particular story or setting calls to me - after all, my own wedding was on a beach in Cuba, so I know the magic of an unconventional location!

How far in advance do I need to book you?

3

Because I strictly prioritize quality over quantity, I only take on a limited number of ceremonies each month to ensure I can give every script and family my full, unhurried energy. For weddings and namings, it is best to book 6 to 12 months in advance. For funerals, the timeline is much shorter, and your funeral director will usually contact me within a day or two of your loved one’s passing.

In England and Wales, the legal paperwork and the celebratory ceremony are currently separate. Most couples pop into their local register office a few days before or after their main wedding to complete the simple legal signing (the "2+2" appointment). This frees us up completely on your main wedding day to have your ceremony exactly where, when, and how you want it - whether that's in a forest, a garden, or your own backyard - without any legal restrictions or cookie-cutter scripts.

Are your wedding ceremonies legally binding?

Can we write our own vows or do you write them?

5

Both! This is your story. If you want to write your own vows, I will gladly guide you and help you find the right words. If the thought of writing them makes you nervous, I can craft them for you based on our conversations, ensuring they sound entirely natural to you.

Absolutely. Unlike a humanist celebrant (who cannot include any religious content), I am happy to weave in whatever feels right for you and your family. Whether that is a traditional hymn, a spiritual reading, a moment of silent reflection, or a ritual that connects with nature, your ceremony will reflect exactly what your loved one believed.

Can we include religious or spiritual elements in a funeral service?

6

Life and relationships are rarely neat, and grief can be incredibly complex. Because of my own lived experiences, I am very comfortable sitting with raw, complicated emotions. I will work closely with you to write a dignified tribute that honours the person’s life and loves, while remaining deeply sensitive and respectful to the reality of the family left behind. We don't do "sugar-coated" clichés; we focus on honesty and grace

What is a Naming Ceremony?

8

It is a beautiful, non-religious (or gently spiritual) way to welcome a child into the family and the wider community. It’s an alternative to a traditional christening. It focuses on the joy of the child’s arrival, the promises made by parents and "guide parents" (supporting adults), and the celebration of the child's identity.

Can we do a Naming Ceremony for an older child or an adopted child?

9

Yes, absolutely. Naming ceremonies are wonderful for toddlers, blended families coming together, adopted children, or anyone stepping into their authentic identity. Every ceremony is bespoke, so we tailor the day entirely to your family’s unique dynamics and journey.
